For some in Kootenai County, the Gozzer Ranch community is something of a mystery. In this short investigative report, we profile some of the rich and famous that call Gozzer ranch their home.
In May of 2005, Kathryn R. McKinley incorporated the Gozzer Ranch Homeowners Association. Since then, the Gozzer Ranch neighborhood has been developed extensively, drawing in some of the wealthiest property owners in Coeur d’Alene.
Many of the homes are owned by trusts. One of the highest valued homes–valued at almost $11 million by Kootenai County–is owned by The Azoff Family Trust Of 1997. Irving Azzof made his fortune in the music industry. He was involved in the inner workings of companies like Ticketmaster, Starz, TMC, and Live Nation Entertainment.
His involvement in the music industry brought the Azoff family millions. In fact, Irving made $36.4 million alone in a merger deal with Ticketmaster and at one time collected a salary of $2 million, more than enough to afford the $35,000 property tax payment on the family’s Gozzer Ranch mansion.
Although the Azoff family name is not widely recognizable, the family is still heavily involved in pop culture. Irving’s son Jeff is currently working as the manager for Grammy Award-winning artist Harry Styles.
Other owners have their wealth in less glamorous industries. The Frank W Kozel Revocable Family Trust owns two lots, one of which is valued at almost $10 million. According to Frank Kozel’s LinkedIn page, he is the owner, president and chairman of the Board & Managing Partner of Keystone Energy Oil & Gas, Texas Keystone and Falcon Partners.
One owner is the son of a Swiss bank in London, according to a New York Times article from 1988. The article reported on the marriage of Charles Geza von Arentschildt to Meredith von Brock. At the time, Arentschildt was the vice president of precious metals trading at Morgan Stanley. Now the family owns a $7.3 million home in the Harrison community.
