COEUR D’ALENE — Candidate for Coeur d’Alene School Board, Zone 2, Yasmin Harris speaks directly to parents and voters in her school zone via her Facebook campaign page. Harris felt the need to proactively push back against the misrepresentation of her platform, as she believes voters are being intentionally deceived by false representations.
I believe in supporting, and funding, public schools … we are incredibly blessed at Hayden Meadows. My boys are thriving.
There is a big divide in our community concerning levies … this last levy, my husband and I voted ‘yes’ on it.
Yasmin Harris, from her Oct 20th Facebook video
Harris takes time to explain that the passage of the last levy was supposed to keep district services at their current levels, but now transportation is being cut, maintenance for facilities is not at sustainable levels, and there are entire schools at risk of closure.
There are tons of people who are voicing their concerns, and they don’t know where the money is going.
Yasmin Harris, referring to her conversations with school district employees
With a background in finance and administration, Harris says she can bring clarification and transparency to the district’s budget.
The community is giving generously, and they want to see that we are being good stewards with those funds. One of the number one reasons I am running is to bring clear communication and understanding [to district finances].

According to her campaign website and her statements at local candidate forums, Harris’ platform focuses on three key areas:
- Parents’ Rights in Education
- Student Acheivement
- Budget Clarity
Harris urges parents and voters to reach out to her directly, and not to believe the lies that are circulating. Her campaign has an event scheduled October 21, 2023, for anyone who wishes to meet and discuss their concerns.
