Conservative Apathy Destroying Western Civilization

Keep Right – Column by Ralph K. Ginorio

In the local, regional, and national elections, we conservatives once again under-performed. In other words, where we should have had victories, we had our hats handed to us. This happened even more spectacularly last year, and it must stop.

Conditions in 2023 are now significantly worse than at the tipping point that the policies of Jimmy Carter wrought by 1979. Yet now, instead of provoking the 1980 Reagan revolution, there is every indication that, if we conservatives do not change, things will only get worse for lovers of constitutional liberty in 2024.

We lost because far too many traditionally minded Americans insist on living in a state of denial. Refusing to see the intensifying devolution of Western Civilization that surrounds us, many believe fever dreams of normality. Many Americans delude themselves into believing that evils which we deny exist cannot truly hurt us. This is folly.

Only if we each determine to truly awaken ourselves, and face the mortal perils that beset us, can we hope to bestir our fellow Americans. If we fail to awaken our neighbors in time, we will have insufficient citizen resolve to successfully preserve a recognizable United States.

Current circumstances demonstrate the validity of many conservative ideas, as they did in 1979-1980.

We are experiencing totally preventable Biden-caused inflation. This loss of our US dollar’s buying power is destroying our standard of living. No economic malady hurts the poor and the middle class more than inflation.

This inflation is due in large part to Biden’s needless constriction of America’s domestic energy production. Today everything is shipped using oil-derived fuel. Therefore, with exploding fuel prices, everything costs more.

Inflation has worsened thanks to Biden’s weakness, encouraging elimination of the US dollar as the only currency in which petroleum can be bought and sold. When Nixon took the US off the gold standard, our money’s value was stabilized by its being the default currency of OPEC; thus, the term “petrodollars.” Within the past year, this has ceased to be true.

Biden’s weaknesses further encouraged China to establish an anti-American financial coalition that is dedicated to controlling global gold reserves. The economic danger posed to the US dollar by this Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) scheme is only slightly reduced by China’s uncontrolled rapaciousness toward these very allies.

“Bidenomic” inflation has been made far more dangerous by the profligate printing of empty dollars since the 2008 financial crisis by George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. This “quantitative easing” is almost certain to eventually destroy the US dollar as a worthwhile currency.

The US economy is further undermined by the refusal of American political and business leaders to decouple from the tainted economy of Communist China. Instead, these leaders have made us dependent on China itself for all manufacturing or on nations whose oceanic trade routes to the US can be throttled by China.

Biden’s choice to manipulate gas prices by squandering America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve places us at further risk. He has sent much of our stockpile of weapons to Ukraine, has refused to properly fund the military, and has oriented the military to fight climate change, and gender roles, rather than on fighting war. All of these would cripple us in the event of war with Beijing — a war for which Xi Jinping is actively preparing.

Our cities burn in riotous anarchy, with surging crime encouraged by George Soros-funded prosecutors. Progressive legislatures publicly decry law and order as white supremacy. Without property rights and personal safety provided by the rule of law, there can be no civilization. As civil order has already died in South Africa, so it is dying in New York, Los Angeles, and other Democrat-run cities.

Under such circumstances, no Democrat, even in a purple area, should get anywhere near elected office. Earlier iterations of each of these problems plagued the US in the Carter years.

We must unseat Democrats and comfortable moderate establishment Republicans, and embrace genuine evangelists of conservatism. We must show how freedom offers everyone more hope for a better life than does identity politics.

Awakened Americans once brought about the Reagan recovery. If we want similar success today, we must wake up, and join the fight to Make America Great Again.
