Human Remains Identified

KOOTENAI COUNTY, IDAHO – On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Detectives received a positive identification on the human remains which were located on November 26, 2023 on Inland Empire land by local hunters. The remains have been identified as Jacob Keith Fulwiler, a 36-year-old male from Rathdrum, Idaho.

Fulwiler was reported as a missing person on February 20, 2023 with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). At this time, the cause of death and toxicology are still under active investigation by the Kootenai County Detectives. Next of kin has been notified.

A previous media release by KCSO shared the details of locating the human remains. At approximately 9:48 a.m. on November 26, 2023, deputies with the KCSO responded to the area of Timber Ridge Road after it was reported that human remains were discovered. A group of local hunters were on their private property when they located the remains. KCSO Detectives and the Kootenai County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. The remains appeared to have been there for many months. At this time the identity of the remains and cause of death are unknown. Further information will be available as the investigation progresses.
