Public Forum to Discuss Kootenai County’s Justice System

COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO – On December 27, 2023, the office of County Commissioner Bruce Mattare distributed a media release informing the community of a public forum to discuss crime, and how it affects your quality of life.

The forum will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the County Administration Building in Coeur d’Alene. The participating leaders from Kootenai County’s justice system are:

  • Sheriff Robert Norris.
  • Prosecuting Attorney Stanley Mortenson.
  • Juvenile Detention Director Eric Sheffield.
  • Adult Misdemeanor Probation Director Keith Hutcheson.
  • Juvenile Probation Director Bryan Alexander.
  • Court Services Director Kally Young.
  • County Clerk Jennifer Locke.
  • Commissioner Bruce E. Mattare.

The officials will address many aspects of the criminal justice system, including drug trafficking, juvenile recidivism, falling arrest rates, and how crime affects property taxes.
