Traffic Stop Yields Large Quantities of Illicit Drugs

POST FALLS, IDAHO – In the early hours of January 2, 2024, a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation in the area of Interstate 90 and Pleasantview Road in Post Falls, Idaho.

During the course of the traffic stop, the odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Amber N. Letchworth, a 32-year-old female from Colbert, Washington, had an active warrant for driving without privileges in Nez Perce County, Idaho. 

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, approximately one pound of methamphetamine, 1,000 fentanyl pills, three firearms, including a sawed off shotgun and stolen handgun, marijuana, and paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle.   

The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Joshua D. Letchworth, a 38-year-old male from Colbert, Washington. Joshua was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia. 

Amber was arrested on her outstanding warrants, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property (firearm), trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
