Road Rage Incident Results in Shots Fired, Suspects Arrested

ATHOL, IDAHO – In the late hours of Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Bunco Road and Pope Road, near Athol, Idaho. 

Based on the deputies investigation, they learned a road rage incident resulted in a female exiting a vehicle and firing multiple shots into an occupied vehicle. 

With the assistance of the Idaho State Police, the suspect vehicle was located a short time later. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Patrick J. Coffey, a 47-year-old male from DeSmet, Idaho. The female passenger was identified as Carolina Silva, a 43-year-old female from DeSmet, Idaho. 

Silva was booked into the Kootenai County Jail for aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm. 

Coffey was booked into the Kootenai County Jail for conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit shooting at an occupied vehicle.
