Press Release from Representative Elaine Price

Representative Elaine Price is pleased to announce the passage of house bill 590. This bill was signed into law by Governor Brad Little on March 21, 2024.

Current Coeur d’Alene City Council member Kiki Miller contacted Representative Price for assistance to explore a possible law change that could help the mobile home community residents in the state. After talking to an industry representative, it was determined that Representative Price was willing to do what she could to advance this issue through the bill process.

This bill was a change to language concerning the notification process for mobile home community associations who are interested in purchasing the land under their mobile homes.

Before the passage of the bill, the community associations were notified when the owner of the property listed their property with an agent. The problem with this system was that most of these sales happened in private listings., so the associations were not getting any notifications. The change to the law requires notification to the association 15 days prior to signing any purchase agreement, whether the property is listed with an agent or not.

After some initial pushback on the original language in the bill, Representative Price redrafted the bill and found the right language to get the bill passed on the house floor. Senator Ben Toews carried the bill on the Senate floor which was then sent to the governor’s desk.

Representative Price and Senator Toews were pleased to team up with Council Member Miller and are happy to advance legislation that could help constituents in North Idaho as well as others living in our state.
