Letter to the Editor
By Jeff Stephens of Bonner County
Despite massive opposition, Bonner County has approved a conditional use permit to build a 170-acre commercial downhill mountain bike park in the middle of rural residential areas on E. Dufort Road in Sagle. If Panhandle Bike Ranch gets its way, we will have:
- Over 1000 visitors per week on a 10 mph dirt road from E. Dufort and S. Sagle Roads, then through Five Lake Estates (a residential neighborhood).
- Shuttle trucks taking bikers to the top of the mountain all day long.
- A helicopter landing pad at the top of the mountain.
- Overnight camping sites.
- Large weekend festivals and events of over 2000 people.
Do you want this in your neighborhood? Because make no mistake – we either stop this now or it may be in your neighborhood next.
How Can You Help?
