Press Release from Kootenai County Sheriffs Office
COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Back Country Safety will be holding the annual off-highway vehicle meeting in September. Traditionally, this meeting is held with representatives from the sheriff’s office along with a few members who represent single track and ATV/UTV users. This year, we are inviting other members of the public who recreate in the forested areas of this county.
Members from the Sheriff’s Office, representatives from Volunteer Search and Rescue, local fire departments, Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, and the United States Forest Service are expected be in attendance. Members of the public with dirt bikes, UTV’s/ATV’s, etc. are invited to bring their machines with them which can be inspected by the sheriff’s office if they so wish. These inspections are voluntary and are only completed to ensure safety and that state and local laws are adhered to. Violations will not be cited at this meeting, but remedies to correct the violations, if found, will be offered.
