Press Release from City of Coeur d’Alene
COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – The City of Coeur d’Alene is seeking youth representation on City Commissions, Boards, and Committees. Service on these boards gives high school students between the ages of 14-18 an unprecedented opportunity to learn about city government, special projects, and to become involved in the community.
If you are interested in serving as a student representative on any of the following committees, or know of a student who might be interested, please visit www.cdaid.org/volunteer and download an application. The deadline to apply is September 27. Possible committees on which you might serve are:
- Library Board
- Arts Commission
- Childcare Commission
- Parks & Recreation Commission
- Pedestrian & Bicycle Advisory Committee
- Urban Forestry Committee
- Parking Commission
- CDATV Committee
A question that gets asked a lot is: What is the time commitment for a student representative? It depends on the board/ commission/ committee, but for the most part, City boards meet once a month, for not much longer than an hour or two. To find out more about an individual board/ commission/ committee, visit the city’s website: www.cdaid.org and look under the individual board and its agenda, and perhaps even talk to one of the committee liaisons. Please email Jo Anne Mateski at jmateski@cdaid.org for more information or to request an application.
