Hayden Man Charged With Grand Theft

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — On October 16, 2024, at approximately 7:35 a.m., deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a report of a stolen bicycle at a residence along the shores of Hayden Lake. The victim confronted the suspect, who falsely claimed to be fleeing from law enforcement.

The suspect then stole a canoe from a nearby residence, paddled to another location and stole yet another canoe.

KCSO Marine Deputies responded via watercraft and swiftly located the suspect, who attempted to flee when instructed to stop. He was identified as 40-year-old Ryan Irwin, a resident of Hayden, Idaho. Irwin was subsequently arrested on charges of Grand Theft and Resisting Arrest.

All stolen property has been recovered and returned to its rightful owners.
