POST FALLS, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred on November 19, on SH41 at the W Prairie Ave intersection in Post Falls.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., a 75-year-old male from Cocolalla was travelling north on Highway 41 in a Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to stop for a red light at the Highway 41 and W. Prairie Avenue intersection. A 56-year-old male from Coeur d’Alene was travelling west on W. Prairie Avenue in a Toyota Prius when he was struck by the Chevrolet.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported with minor injuries by ground ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Prius was also transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where he later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Next of kin have been notified.
Traffic on Highway 41 and W. Prairie Avenue was shut down for one hour and partially blocked for almost two hours.
The Idaho State Police were assisted by Post Falls Police, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and Idaho Transportation Department.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
