HAYDEN, Idaho — At approximately 3:50 a.m. on April 11, 2025, deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an unconscious male located in a ditch near the intersection of Hayden Lake Road and Rhapsody Lane.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the male was deceased. Further investigation led to the discovery of a vehicle approximately 60 feet down an embankment. The KCSO Traffic Unit responded to the scene and launched an investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest the individual had been involved in a single-vehicle crash and was attempting to walk to the roadway for help before succumbing to his injuries. Evidence at the scene indicates that alcohol and/or drugs may have been contributing factors.
The incident remains under active investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
