On April 24, the Newsmax Frontline show hosted by former U.S. Navy Seal Carl Higbie “set the record straight” concerning their reporting on the private Legislative Town Hall event hosted by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) on February 22 in Coeur d’Alene.
“The left ran a success campaign and this actually got by us,” stated Higbie as he opened the segment. “But, look, I’d rather correct the record than pretend it didn’t happen.”
“The left played the victim, screamed for the cops, [and] told half the story,” reported Higbie. “The reason it got by us was because they rushed to file legal motions which became the basis for our opinion.”
“We thought, hey, when you file a legal motion you’re affirming things to the truth… turns out, they lied, or at a minimum, mislead the court.”
“This was a locally-known left-wing agitator and it was calculated,” Higbie continued.
“The hecklers started immediately, they heckled the invocation,” shared KCRCC Chairman Brent Regan. “The woman in question was asked to behave at least seven times.”
“The sheriff asked her to leave,” Regan told Higbie. “She resisted.” He then explained how the sheriff requested the aid of the security personnel who were present at the event.
Then Higbie jumps in with a plain language explanation of Idaho law which provides legal protections to civilians who are directed by a sheriff to assist them in the execution of their duties. “Those people who are now being charged, should not be charged,” concluded Higbie. “They should be protected under Idaho code 31-2202.”
Kootenai Journal laid out all the applicable Idaho laws in an editorial published February 26.
“That should be a ‘get out of jail free card’ if you will,” replied Regan.
“I was horrified that we got this wrong,” continued Higbie. “But this is what the left has been doing all over the country… they’ve run successful campaign against people like yourself and even have people like me [report it].”
“I am happy to go on and say ‘hey, dude, I got it wrong’ if we can get to the truth, but a lot of people don’t.”
“There’s a concerted effort to turn Idaho blue,” stated Regan. “They are pouring millions of dollars into it… these Soros funded NGOs.”
Regan wrapped by highlighting how the decisions by the police in this matter “invites lawlessness and chaos.”
“That’s the lawfare that we’re all very worried about,” stated Higbie.
