What’s Cloaked Behind Irony?

Letter to the Editor by Marianna Cochran of Rathdrum

Irony often masks concealed truth.

Irony: a possum playing dead to not become “unalived” by a predator. In truth, it’s very much alive.

Also, how can such tiny babies produce mountains of soiled diapers? The truth: that “new baby smell” is often stinky. But, possums and babies are doing what nature intended, so are unaccountable.

However, adults make conscious decisions regarding their actions. It’s ironic that some of the staunchest advocates of “inclusiveness and tolerance” will blurt, yell, and disrupt at board meetings and town halls when they hear what they don’t like. The truth: that’s intolerance. One library trustee candidate was videoed blurting at the February 22 town hall and is the same former trustee who surely required civility at Post Falls school board meetings. Ironically, the Post Falls school board policy manual, approved during this former board member’s tenure, requires that the PF superintendent is expected to administer in a “harmonious manner.” Are some exempt from civil conduct?

This same library trustee candidate claims that the current CLN board’s policies regarding sexually-explicit materials for minors is “erasing LGBT and people of color.” The truth: the policies comply with Idaho statute regarding sexual explicitness in materials for minors—regardless of persuasion or skin color.  Claiming victimhood is the same old leftist ruse which is ironic when from someone who calls herself “Republican.” The truth: no books are being removed at CLN; they’re simply being MOVED and the decision to reclassify a book with adult content to Adult designation has absolutely nothing to do with skin color or sexual orientation.

Avoid irony and protect children’s innocence by voting for Victoria Bauman for CLN Trustee.
