Rathdrum Issues Notice of New Public Hearing for Rezone, Public Comments Welcomed

Rathdrum, Idaho — On April 29, the City of Rathdrum posted a Notice of Public Hearing for the “Hayden Homes/Asesta Rezone.”

According to the notice, the hearing was necessary “due to a procedural error by the City” in a previous notice. The new public hearing is scheduled in front of Rathdrum City Council on May 14, 2025.

“Hayden Homes/Arestad Rezone”

The Rathdrum City Council will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 commencing at 5:30 PM at Rathdrum City Hall: 8047 W Main Street, in Rathdrum.

Due to a procedural error by the City, proper Notice was not sufficiently provided for the Public Hearing held April 9, 2025.

Summary of Request: The purpose of this Public Hearing is to hear testimony regarding a request for amendment to the zoning map of the City of Rathdrum (Zone Map Amendment) by the Applicant.  The property, identified as NKA Boekel Road, is generally located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Boekel Road and Meyer Road. The parcels are currently zoned “I” Industrial. The applicants have petitioned the City for Zone Change, to amend the zoning of approximately 123 acres of the 156 total acres to “MR” Mixed Residential. 

The Land referred to herein is situated in the County of Kootenai, State of Idaho and is described as follows: Parcel 1: Government Lot 3 of Section 5, Township 51 North, Range 4 West, Boise Meridian, Kootenai County, Idaho. Parcel 2: The Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 5, Township 51 North, Range 4 West, Boise Meridian, Kootenai County, Idaho. Parcel 3: Government Lot 4 and the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 5, Township 51 North, Range 4 West, Boise Meridian, Kootenai County, Idaho. Excepting therefrom that portion conveyed to the City of Rathdrum by Quitclaim Deed recorded September 30, 1999 as Instrument No. 1608506, records of Kootenai County, Idaho. Also excepting therefrom that portion described in the Warranty Deed attached to the Purchase Agreement recorded August 26, 2021 as Instrument No. 2855223000, records of Kootenai County, Idaho.

A copy of the proposal is available for inspection by the public at the Public Works office at Rathdrum City Hall or can be provided electronically upon request.  The City invites you to provide written comment to be included in the public record to the City by no later than 5:30 PM on May 14, 2025 either clicking here and submitting your comments on the linked form, or by mail to Attn: James Agidius, City of Rathdrum, 8047 W Main Street, Rathdrum, ID 83858, or by email to publicinput@rathdrum.gov.
