Keep Right — Column by Ralph K. Ginorio
The doom criers of contemporary America say that we are… well… doomed. It is the inevitable conclusion for any argument that doom criers make.
They mean well. They are like prophets of old who ripped out their hair and tore their garments in their zeal to awaken something urgent in the minds of somnolent normal people. Such self-tussling illustrates their desperate hope that the message might be received and understood.
Surviving dangerous times requires that we be awakened to our imminent peril. Too many of us slumber, dreaming dreams of peace and normality. Unless we are alerted by the alarming message of the doom crier, we may be overcome by crisis and destroyed.
Doom criers are rarely happy, comfortable or well-adjusted. They are not entertaining dinner guests and do not make pleasant small talk.
The intensity of their awareness that we are imperiled by our own complacency makes it difficult for these doom criers to just take a day off and relax. Instead, the need to express fills every moment with adrenalized tension. How can they rest when those around them so desperately need to be awakened?!
Remember that doom crying prophets have in fact saved many throughout history. Abraham, Moses, Joshua, and Isaiah are among the Hebrew Prophets who willingly became “God’s Madmen” in hope of serving God by saving Man.
After 490 B. C., Themistocles warned Athens that the Persians would return. He was damned as a warmongering defeatist for doing so. When Xerxes inevitably marched on Athens in 480 B. C., desperate Athenians turned to Themistocles, whose planning and leadership saved them (and by extension all subsequent Western Civilization).
Winston Churchill walked the same path during the 1930s when he cried out in the political wilderness that Hitler’s National Socialists would lead Germany against Britain in another war. Like the famous Greek, when the Nazis came it was Churchill who was entrusted with guiding Britain through the world crisis.
Significantly, both visionary leaders were cast back into obscurity when their crises passed. Themistocles was ostracized as a Persian spy, and ironically the man who stopped Persia spent his last years as a Persian Satrap. In 1945, Churchill was voted out of office between the defeat of Germany and Japan.
Apparently, both prophetic war leaders were too “edgy” to be trusted in peacetime.
Because they are often too loud and overly dramatic social misfits, it is easy to call doom criers delusional cranks and shut them out. The problem with such smug complacency is that, if what the doom criers are warning against is real, it is deadly in the face of genuine crisis and calamity.
By the time that the peaceable normal people escape the shock and trauma induced by the demolition of their safe and cozy illusion, it will be too late. How many innocents will die, and how much innocence will be destroyed in the initial breaking of the crisis upon the world? Bad people with a plan can accomplish much evil in the face of a shocked and slowly awakening
opponent.
Edmund Burke’s famous axiom is absolutely true. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” If free people in a basically decent society refuse to protect their liberty, if they even refuse to be vigilant to growing threats against that liberty, then the freedom, decency, and liberty they have taken for granted will soon be lost.
As a student and teacher of history, I am at times compelled to cry doom; doom unless we awaken. Here is the essence of my warning. We are increasingly under threat. We need to awaken to save our liberty, loved ones, and lives.
Within our society, people with thinking machines are preparing to use those machines to enslave us. These Technomancers think that they are doing this for our own good as they make for us a better world. They are utterly wrong. We do not need computers to think for us. As human beings, thinking is our primary job. Do not buy these artificial intelligences. Do not use them. Shut them off.
Take back the responsibility of being a self-determined and autonomous person!
The caustic philosophies of deconstructivist utopian post-modernism, race theory, militant feminism, liberation theology, and Marxism have destroyed our institutions. Study these enemy ideologies enough to recognize them, awaken others to them, and exorcize them from our society. Only when they are discredited can we in the West rebuild authentically humane institutions.
Red China is at war with us. The insulated megalomaniacs that lead the Chinese Communist Party are attacking our food supply, power grid, water supply, computerized banking, personal information, universities, popular culture, economy, and government bureaucracy. Awaken and help to decouple the United States from everything produced in Red China. Be prepared to fight their influence, their propaganda, and God forbid their eventual military attacks. We should each develop the hardy self-discipline necessary for us to fight on to earn victory against this genocidal evil!
European and Canadian allies, whom the United States protected throughout the Cold War, have been captured by a governing aristocracy obsessed with control. Free speech, free assembly, and the very principle of popular sovereignty are being taken apart before our very eyes. Once sufficiently entrenched, these technocrats will work with their Progressive Fifth Column
within the United States to assimilate or destroy us. Awaken to protect our distinct American freedom!
These are only a few problems that threaten us. Rogue Federal Judges think that they have the right to overturn the President as Chief Executive. Climate Cultists mean to return humanity to a pre-industrial state, no matter the cost. Religious denominations are losing their ability to clearly discern God’s word because they are increasingly mired in human politics. Virtuality is replacing reality, swallowing the minds and souls of entire generations of young people.
I know, all of this sounds so hyperbolic—why allow yourself to be disturbed when everything seems so normal?
Truly, one cannot always live in crisis mode. We must be for life more than we are against death. We should build lives worth living. We should be more in joy than in fear. God gave us the Sabbath as a reminder that we are not just here to be swallowed in a sea of tasks that need doing. Even Jesus frequently left the crowds to go to the mountaintop to restore himself. To defend humanity, we must first be human.
Everyone is free to ignore the melodramatics of doom criers, even ones like me. No one would be happier than I if everything that I warn against is merely the product of my overly excitable imagination. If only this were true!
