Letter to the Editor by Michael McGowan of Kootenai County
Dear Mr. Ginorio,
I was utterly gobsmacked by your column titled “Post-election Reflection: 2025”. Allow me to make a few comments which will suggest some areas that you might study.
You say: “… the North Idaho Republicans need to demonstrate something more than the track record of its leaders. Instead of grounding their claim to legitimacy in the considerable accomplishments of their leadership, they need to focus more on fighting against the left-of-center status quo.”
For God’s sake, Ralph! The track record of NIR’s leaders IS the left-of-center status quo. NIR really stands for North Idaho Rhinos. Granted, some of its followers are actually conservative, but these are well-meaning people who have been duped as to what NIR is really about. It’s really about smoke-screening for Democrats.
You say: “NIR should consider that not everything that the Chamber of Commerce craves for the sake of economic growth is healthy for our community.”
Ralph, the NIR leadership is totally tied-in with the Chamber of Commerce. The interests of NIR and the CoC are the same. There is a lot of history that I can’t go into here. The short story is that NIR is just the latest in a line of political action groups that have been astroturfed into action in order to stop the real grassroots conservative movement from slowing the mad rush to making megabucks.
You say: “KCRCC’s protracted support of Todd Banducci and company at North Idaho College, and of Bela Kovacs’ failed term as County Assessor, have damaged the reputations of all concerned.”
Um, no, Ralph. The reputations were damaged by the lies told by CDA Propaganda—or is that CDA Press?—and other Leftist people and organizations—like NIR.
Finally, you say: “… Objective competence does really matter …”
Yes, it does—except when the powers-that-should-not-be are lying to destroy your reputation, and scheming to ensure you fail.
The problem with becoming accustomed to teaching is becoming unaccustomed to learning.
