Urgent Clarity for 2026

Keep Right — Column by Ralph K. Ginorio

As 2025 becomes 2026, these following notions have occurred to me. No doubt, many of these insights will be trite. Nevertheless, they are what has come to my own limited mind as I recall the past and anticipate the future. In them, more than anything, I am exhorting myself to choose a worthwhile life.

For your consideration, I think that:

  • Life should be lived with urgency. Life is precious because it is scarce. In all of nearly eternal time and almost infinite space, we each have only one lifetime.
  • In our time, we should hope and dream without compromise. We should dream of being useful to our God, our nation, our loved ones, and ultimately to our own conscience.
  • We among the living are not owed anything. We owe everything! We owe our self-awareness and innate talents to our Creator, our liberty and prosperity to our Republic, our joy and connectedness to our family and friends, and our vocation and integrity to our own selves.
  • Living lives in grateful service to that which we love is our best destiny. Seizing the opportunities within every moment of our lives to do some good is the truest key to happiness.
  • We need not be paragons of virtue. What we can each do is to try our best to serve some worthy good beyond self-interest. We need not be monks nor crusaders in order to give faithful service. We need not be superheroes in order to do some good.
  • None of us knows how much time we have. No one sees what awaits us in the future.
  • All we have is now. All that we can choose is what we shall try to say or do in each moment. Nothing else, not even the outcomes of our choices, is truly in our hands.
  • These choices reveal who we truly are and what we genuinely care about. In making them, we should endeavor to serve the dictates of our conscience.
  • As we reflect on past years and anticipate 2026, we ought to rededicate ourselves to live with an urgent clarity befitting the priceless value of each moment that we are given to choose.
