WHAT AMERICA IS HERE FOR

Keep Right — Column by Ralph K. Ginorio

As I write this column, the chattering classes are desperately trying to spotlight every sign of discontent with Trump’s Iran policy they can find. Every complaint about the sudden spike in gas prices and the related persistency of inflation is retransmitted in lurid detail. All polling that indicates that Independent voters are leery about the risks of war are touted as Gospel.

Of course, any objective examples of premature war-weariness that they can find are coupled with their incessant drumbeat of pro-Ayatollah propaganda masquerading as anti-war dissent. For the past sixty years, media in the United States has been reflexively anti-American where warfare is concerned. From Ho Chi Minh to Mojtaba Khamenei, U. S. media can always be counted upon to give aid and comfort to our nation’s enemies.

The reason for this Fifth Columnist media is sadly clear. For those same six decades, Academe has produced generations of middle class Communist sympathizers; many of whom become journalists. Their moral is that, because we Americans are still working our way towards building a more perfect Union, we are irredeemably tainted by what Marxists deem to be our past and present sins. Our undeniable and persistent imperfections justify our annihilation
and subsequent replacement by their vaunted Workers’ Paradise.

However, their ubiquitous Agit-Prop has an even more insidious characteristic. In addition to undermining every U. S. effort towards achieving victory on the battlefield since Nazi tanks threatened Moscow, the Leftist media seeks to remold our American self-image from being ruggedly independent into becoming depressively infantilized.

We were once a people who President John F. Kennedy described thusly in his Inaugural Address. “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

Now, we Americans are mischaracterized as being fragile, fraught, fractious, despairing, inconstant, narcissistic, perverse, self-obsessed, short-sighted, weak willed cowards. Such a contemptible people is self-evidently incapable of self-government. Such pathetic moral cripples must be governed from above, with a firm hand, for their own good.

This picture of us is, thank God, merely an illusory fantasy intended to remove burdensome choices from Americans here at home. This caricature is also promulgated in order to undermine the United States role as the resolute bastion of individual liberty abroad. It is an open invitation for us to abandon both the responsibilities and opportunities of adulthood to instead embrace the pretense of security of a childish dependency.

Fortunately, these would-be social engineers lack the power to genuinely unmake the American spirit. We cannot, in fact, be unmade by anyone other than ourselves. Freedom cannot be taken away from us by others, not unless we cooperate in our own disenfranchisement. Only when we willingly try to exchange our freedom for some siren-song of security will we lose both.

There is one clear wisdom which can maintain the widest possible scope of free choice for the greatest proportion of U. S. citizens: TANSTAAFL. “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch!” We must be, as JFK exhorted us to be, ever-willing to pay prices, bear burdens, endure hardships, help friends, and fight foes if we wish to preserve liberty in our own time and pass it on intact to our successors.

The United States of America was never established to make life easy for its citizens. America exists to allow us to dream big and then pursue those dreams untrammeled by the self-interest of the powers-that-be. Only by unleashing the heretofore repressed ebullient creativity inherent within every human being has the American meritocracy produced an unprecedentedly prosperous land of opportunity. Opportunity plus enterprise equals high living standards.

The same is true for peace. The Romans were correct, insisting that only those prepared for war will ever have peace. Evil must be recognized, opposed and fought to be defeated. Unless evil men are confronted, they will enslave the rest of us. Only victory in our time defers evil’s conquest for one more generation. Only when we fight regimes like Iran, and ultimately like
Communist China, will freedom persist.

It is this very fight that our media undermines. It is our capacity to resist and then triumph that they are trying to take away from us. Remember this when you give your credulity to our media. Remember this when you have an opportunity to vote! Never forget who we are, and what America exists to do.
