RIGGINS, Idaho – After a serious accident involving a propane truck on U.S. Highway 95 near Riggins, the highway has now been cleared and is officially open for travel. On Thursday, the propane truck overturned at milepost 177, rupturing the tank and spilling thousands of gallons of propane onto the road.

First responders from multiple agencies worked tirelessly to clean up the spill and ensure the safety of the road for travelers. The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) would like to thank the public for their patience during the emergency response and encourages all travelers to exercise caution when driving.

ITD and other interagency partners are pleased to announce that the highway is now open and ready for travel. However, drivers are encouraged to check 511.idaho.gov for conditions and closures on state highways and interstates. ITD wishes all travelers a safe and pleasant journey to their final destinations.
