North Idaho Republicans–a counter group to the official Kootenai County Republican Central Committee–recently held a secret meeting in which they exposed the activities and connections of a loose association known as “America First” or “Groypers.”
The meeting at the Coeur d’Alene resort was by invitation only, but word got out. Event coordinators say in the audio recording that Summer Bushnell of The Bushnell Report texted people that the meeting of the North Idaho Republicans was happening, but they were not permitted to attend the meeting.
Christa Hazel–a member of Idaho Women for Biden according to the Kootenai County Democrats–gave the keynote address for the night. She addressed the group known as “America First” or “Groypers.” Hazel suggested that they might as well just call themselves Aryans.
According to Hazel, the group has connections with David Lane–a well known white supremasist who was convicted of driving a getaway care in the assassination of Alan Berg–and is currently headed up by Nick Fuentes and Paul Gossar.
Locally, Hazel pointed to members she believed to be heavily involved in the ideology: David Reilly, Vincent James Foxx, Michelle Malkin, Daniel Bell, and Rory McShane.
Hazel says Reilly–Who she believes publishes the Idaho Tribune–is one of the largest America First proponents in the Coeur d’Alene area. She was especially disturbed by Reilly’s anti-Israel tweet from the beginning of the decade as well as his association with the Identity Evropa. She says his associations brought him to Austria for a wedding of a woman to the leader of the group who is banned from the United States.
Hazel also took umbrage with Vincent James Foxx–the publisher of Daily Veracity–who she says promotes a Christian Taliban as well as the Handmaids tale world. Hazel’s research shows that Foxx is the treasurer for America First and business partners with David Reilly.
Hazel believes Rory McShane is using North Idaho as a testing ground for his political theories. According to Hazel, he has influenced the Idaho Freedom Foundation shift toward an experimental mindset for politics in North Idaho, as well as the rest of the state. Hazel says that McShane was paid over $20,000 by the KCRCC for his promotional work.
According to Hazel the group heavily influences the actions of the KCRCC: “And then here they [the Groypers] are [at] the central committee’s Fourth of July parade entry included the America First flag. The man carrying it in the foreground is a Groyper and, and he has appeared in public comment and the man in the background that is Brent Reagan over his shoulder. Here they are at NIC with elected highway district commissioner Jeff Tyler. Jeff also serves on our central committee. Jeff is a co chair of the rating and vetting committee.” She went on to point out that Tyler’s work has landed him on America First websites.
Hazel blames the group for getting Paul Amador and Jim Addis out of the Idaho legislature by telling their supporters to get involved in local races and support more conservative candidates.
Hazel advised the North Idaho Republicans to find a middle ground between differing ideologies: “I want to propose that we can maintain our concerns about woke culture coming to North Idaho. But we also can stand firm in the face of racism and misogyny when it appears, especially especially when it’s appearing under a Republican banner.”
Hazel also suggested that North Idaho Republican members buy a subscription to the CDA Press, which she says is under duress.
The group also seemed to support the open primary system by having a sign on sheet for the attendees.
After Hazel finished her session, North Idaho Republican leaders shared additional concerns about Nina Beasley, Summer Bushnell, and Erin Barnard of the KC Spectator. The group dislikes Barnard because she puts out a list of local public meetings for her ideological associates to attend.
