Press Release from Kootenai County Commissioner Bill Brooks

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – Commissioner Bill Brooks and Kootenai County extend an invitation to the public for a town hall scheduled on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. If you are a veteran, or a relative of a veteran, and a resident of Kootenai County, this event is tailored for you. The objective of this town hall is to enlighten attendees about the array of services and advantages that veterans and their families have rightfully earned.

Commissioner Bill Brooks has organized an informative session with a diverse group of representatives, including the Kootenai County Veterans Services Office (VSO), North Idaho Veterans Stand Down, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), the Kootenai County Veterans Council (KCVC), the Idaho Department of Labor, North Idaho College (NIC), The Veterans Home, St. Vincent de Paul and others.

During this town hall, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain insights from Debbi Narchal about the upcoming North Idaho Veterans Stand Down and why it shouldn’t be missed.
  • Access Services and Benefits offered through the VSO offices at both county and state levels.
  • Understand the distinctions between the Department of Veterans Affairs and the County
    Veterans Service office.
  • Acquire knowledge about VA Health Care eligibility and application processes.
  • Explore Education benefits and studying options available at NIC.
  • Engage in a Q&A session, allowing attendees, whether present physically, online, or via phone, to pose queries to the presenters.
  • Receive a list of valuable resources and affiliated organizations.
