SANDPOINT: Nicaragua Foreign National Charged with Kidnapping, Rape

Is the migrant crime wave stemming from the open border hitting close to home?

SANDPOINT, Idaho — Sandpoint police arrested Josue E. Vado-Urbina, 21, of Nicaragua, and U.S. Board Patrol agents took custody of two other foreign national men over the weekend. Vado-Urbina has been charged with second-degree kidnapping and rape; his first court appearance was Monday, November 4.

The police became aware of the alleged sexual assault on Saturday, November 2 after receiving a report that a woman was being held against her will. According to police, the reporting party was an individual who received text messages from the alleged victim which indicated she had been sexually assaulted and was being hold against her will.

During the investigation, law enforcement located the victim and made contact with three male individuals. At this time, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not confirmed the legal status of the three males. Kootenai Journal contacted ICE spokesperson David Yost for further details and will update as information is provided.

Vado-Urbina remains in the Bonner County Jail with bail set at $250,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 13.

The open board policies of the Biden/Harris administration have been a central issue during the 2024 presidential election. President Donald J. Trump has promised to deport criminal illegal aliens and to close the southern border if he wins a second term.
