Press Release from Kootenai County Commissioners
On December 19, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners passed the Kootenai County Historic Preservation Plan. This landmark initiative comes after 18 months of diligent work by the Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission, with crucial support from a grant provided by the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office. The plan reflects the collaborative efforts of local residents, historical societies, municipalities, and preservation commissions.
By integrating the Historic Preservation Plan into the county’s comprehensive planning efforts, the Board aims to enhance land use planning while ensuring that the county’s historical assets are preserved for future generations.
The Historic Preservation Plan outlines strategies and objectives designed to identify, protect, and celebrate the county’s historical resources, promoting a sense of place and community identity. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the plan and contribute to its ongoing implementation.
