HAYDEN, Idaho — Idaho Signal is a locally produced statewide podcast that broadcasts a 1-hour live-stream program starting at 10:30 a.m. PST (11:30 a.m. MT) Monday through Friday during the Idaho Legislative Session. The program launched during the 2024 session and is the brainchild of conservative activist and Citizens Alliance of Idaho Executive Director Matt Edwards.
Idaho Signal is one of the newest Idaho-based media sources working to amplify the forgotten conservative voice. According to Edwards, “the mainstream legacy press in Idaho is much like the national media—completely biased towards a leftist narrative and providing cover for their allies.”
The organization’s website states, “Idaho Signal equalizes the playing field by amplifying, in real-time, the ignored voices of our champions of liberty in the legislature and solid grassroots conservatives across the state.”
Not only does the podcast present a professional and well-produced dialogue with Idaho citizens and legislators, but it addresses relevant issues and provides up-to-date briefings about critical legislation that directly affects Idaho families. It regularly pushes alerts for committee hearings and encourages citizens to testify on important matters.
The Idaho Signal podcast can be found under the Citizens Alliance of Idaho social media channels on X, Rumble, Telegram, and YouTube. For the 2025 session, Edwards added collaborations with Brian Almon of Gem State Chronicle and Lilly Allman of In the Know Idaho and Turning Point USA.
Edward’s work to promote conservative policies recently gave hundreds of Idahoans a collective voice during a committee hearing on House Bill 32, which would “prevent the State of Idaho, it’s political subdivisions, or any state officers from mandating the use of face masks, face shields, or other face coverings as a means to prevent or slow the spread of a contagious or infectious disease.”
The bill passed the House with a 52-16-2 vote. All the Democratic Party members of the House who were present voted against the prohibition on mask mandates and were joined by eight House colleagues who affiliate with the Republican Party:
- Rick Cheatum (R–Pocotello), 2nd term
- Lance Clow (R–Twin Falls), 7th term, Chair of the Business Committee
- Dan Garner (R–Clifton), 2nd term
- Jack Nelson (R–Jerome), 2nd term
- Britt Raybould (R–Rexburg), 2nd term
- Jerald Raymond (R–Menan), 2nd term
- Mark Sauter (R–Sandpoint), 2nd term
- Jon Weber (R–Rexburg), 3rd term
So far this year, Idaho Signal has discussed numerous issues including a Kootenai Journal report on DEI in Idaho high school accreditation with Rep. Dale Hawkins (R–Fernwood), a Trans flag displayed in an Idaho classroom, a Coeur d’Alene student’s experience with boys in girls spaces, expanded powers for Idaho law enforcement when dealing with illegal foreign nationals, and property tax relief.
