Spencer David Greendyke

CDA Orthopedic Surgeon Sentenced to Prison for Video Voyeurism

Press Release from Kootenai County Prosecutor

Spencer David Greendyke (69), a local orthopedic surgeon, was convicted of 11 counts of Video Voyeurism. The charges stem from an incident in March of 2024, when one of Greendyke’s employees discovered hidden cameras in the office. After pulling one of the memory cards, the employee located a series of videos taken from inside the employee bathroom – including a video of that employee’s vagina. Especially concerned because minor children of several employees also use the same bathroom, the employee reported the incident to law enforcement.

During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered evidence supporting allegations that Greendyke had taken more than 800 hidden videos over the last 15-20 years from within his office and/or home. However, due to a 5-year statute of limitations, Greendyke could only be charged with conduct dating back to 2019. Between the years of 2019 and 2024, detectives discovered evidence that Greendyke had utilized hidden cameras to secretly record several of his employees and the minor children of employees using the bathroom. Video Voyeurism is a felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Greendyke was sentenced on April 4, 2025, by District Judge Ross Pittman.

At sentencing, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Art Verharen recommended that Greendyke receive a unified 40-year prison sentence for his crimes with parole eligibility after 25 years.

Judge Pittman sentenced Greendyke to a combined 40-year prison sentence for his crimes with parole eligibility after 20 years and imposed a no contact order for the duration of the sentence. Greendyke will also have to register as a sex offender if he is ever released from prison.

Prosecuting Attorney Stanley T. Mortensen thanks Art Verharen for prosecuting this case and the Coeur d’Alene Police Department for investigating this case.
