Traffic Stop Results in Seizure of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Firearm, and Paraphernalia

POST FALLS, IDAHO – In the late evening hours of March 5, 2024, a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation in the area of Interstate 90 and Pointe Parkway. 

During the traffic stop, a Post Falls Police K9 responded, and the K9 subsequently alerted on the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, over a pound of methamphetamine, one gram of fentanyl, a handgun, and multiple pieces of paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brian D. Hanson, a 64-year-old male from Post Falls, Idaho. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Michael J. White, a 69-year-old male from Hayden, Idaho. 

Hanson was booked into the Kootenai County Jail for possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting/obstructing a Peace Officer. 

White was booked into the Kootenai County Jail for trafficking methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
