Today, the Board of Trustees of the Community Library Network (CLN) of Kootenai and Shoshone Counties in North Idaho approved a resolution disassociating CLN from the American Library Association (ALA) and its affiliates.
After several meetings debating and modifying the wording of the resolution, a majority agreed and passed the resolution on September 21, 2023, and released it today after review by legal counsel.
The resolution, which removes any CLN association with ALA and its affiliates, takes effect immediately.
It requires that no CLN monies be used for any ALA memberships, training, informational services, materials, events, promotions, or campaigns sponsored by ALA or its affiliates.
