The Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission is set to discuss an annexation proposal on May 17 at the Post Falls City Hall.

The Commission will listen to public comments during a public hearing about the proposal. After the hearing, the Commission will vote on whether to send the proposal onto the Post Falls City Council. The Council will have the final say as to whether the zoning changes will go into effect.

The properties to be rezoned and annexed largely run next to Hayden Avenue in between North Chase Road and Highway 41.

In exchange for developable land, the Jacklin Land Company will give up land for Public Reserve zoning. The breakdown for the land is as follows:

  • 80 acres will be switched from Public Reserve land to mixed residential use.
  • 178 acres will go from regular county land to Public Reserve land.
  • 28.1 acres will go from regular county land to Single Family Residential land.
  • 20.8 acres will go from regular county land to Medium Density Residential land.
  • Around 34 acres will go from regular county land to Community Commercial Mixed use.

All-in-all, Jacklin Land Company will end up with around 159 acres of developable land and the City will get 98 more acres of public reserve land.

While Public Reserve land can’t be developed by private parties, it can still be used for utilities, government projects, schools, parks, museums, etc. At a later point in time, Post Falls City Council could also opt to change the zoning.

The Commission has asked that written comments be emailed, submitted on the City’s website, or mailed to the Commission before May 10.
